I recently took my friend shopping after she told me that she was looking for a cream eyeshadow. At first, I suggested the affordable Maybelline Colour Tattoo (which I love) but she finds that the range of natural shades was a little bit limited and they were just not what she was looking for. So as an awesome friend that I am, I dragged her to MAC in Nottingham where we spent forever swatching everything. I was in between buying Indianwood and of course Vintage Selection. After trying this out, I have a feeling that I will probably be picking up Indianwood sometimes soon.
MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Vintage Selection is described as "frosted dirty peach", although I can't say that I notice much of the peachy tone when I swatched it. On me, I'd describe it as more of a nude brown with a hint of champagne shimmer. I think of it as the love-child of Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze and Pink Gold. I personally love it because it looks very natural and elegant on the lids.
MAC Paint Pot seems to have a creamier and softer consistency compare to the Maybelline's version. Not going to lie but the consistency and texture of the MAC Paint Pot was something that persuaded me to purchase it in the first place because I went to MAC planning on not getting anything. Due to its creamy texture, it applies like a dream and it's super blendable. You can use it as a base as well as a shadow. I couldn't resist it because it just feels so luxurious!
I love MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Vintage Selection because it applies so smoothly over my lid which can be used lightly for a sheer natural look. It can also be used as an eye primer too! Whilst using it, I haven't noticed my eyeshadow creasing as much.
Even though it is long lasting, I'm not sure how the Pro Longwear range compares to their standard Paint Pot as this is my first Paint Pot. MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot is indeed very long lasting but I don't find that it's particularly hard to remove with a good make-up remover.

I've never tried a paint pot but it's absolutely lovely! If I were to pick up any it'd be vintage selection. I find the other ones too frosty or too plain :P
ReplyDeleteI thought so too but sometimes plain one just look really nice on the eyes.

Thank you!
DeleteI have been a fan of your blog for ages.

Long lasting and the colors on the eyelid are what you see in the container. I also had not trouble with the product creasing or changing colors during the day
ReplyDeleteThis really does look like a cross between the two Maybelline ones! Seems like it would be a really versatile, everyday shade :) I only have one Paint Pot in Rubenesque that I find to be too light for me to wear by itself - I usually just wear it as a base for my other powder eyeshadows.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, love the comparison swatches. There are a couple of paint pots I would like to get my hands on eventually.
