Everything You Need to Know About Milk Makeup UK Launch

Milk Makeup has been planning the UK launch since 2017 (I only know because I was planning their influencers launch plan since I first joined Cult Beauty). You don't know tough it was, trying to keep this a secret from everyone. When I was in the US, I had held off buying Milk Makeup products because I thought that it was coming to the UK soon. Finally, they are here and I honestly can't wait to try everything. I recently had a training session with their educational team to learn a bit more about the products that will be stocked on Cult Beauty and I thought I'd share what I've learned from that session with you!
- BLUR -This range is best for those normal to oily skin as the product can look quite mattifying. The amazing thing about Milk Makeup's Blur range is that they don't contain any silicone. Their blurring microsphere technology turns into a powder on the skin and absorbs excess oil without clogging up your pores.
The stick has 2 versions: the Blur Stick and Luminous Blur Stick. The difference is the Blur Stick has a matte finish and Luminous Blur Stick has a shimmer finish (best for those with oily skin but still want a little bit of glow). Both sticks can be used by themselves for no-makeup days and underneath makeup. I have the Blur Stick and it is fantastic at removing shine without being drying and it looks amazing underneath makeup.
The Blur + Set Matte Loose Setting Powder is for those that want to take matte skin to the next level. The setting powder comes in 3 'Translucent' shades: Light, Medium and Deep. As one shade of translucent doesn't always work for everyone. The powder is dispensed through a mesh, which you can use the enclosed sponge to pick up the product without making a massive mess.
Blur Spray is their setting spray with a blurring effect. It has the same blurring microsphere technology as other products in the range but in a liquid form. Honestly, my skin felt so soft and smooth after applying this. You can use it by itself with no makeup, in between makeup stages and at the end to set makeup.
Blur Liquid Matte Foundation currently has 24 shades. It's a full coverage foundation with a lightweight and serum-like formula. It feels so thin that you expect it to be light coverage but it's not. You only need 1-2 tiny drops to cover your entire face. The foundation comes in a clear tube and a very cool dispenser that keeps the foundation airtight and not leaks all over your bag. Don't forget to shake before squeezing out the product. Can we have a dewy version of this foundation, please?
Personally, as a dry skin girl, I will be skipping most of this range as it's not aimed towards my needs and concerns. I would recommend this range for people with normal/oily skin with pore concerns.
- MATCHA -Milk Makeup uses ceremonial grade (the highest grade) Matcha in their products. The aim of this range is to detoxify your skin. There are 3 products in this range: Mask, Cleanser and Toner.
Matcha Detoxifying Mask has Kombucha and Witch Hazel to reduce the appearance of pores and absorb excess oil. The mask is green when on the skin (super Instagrammable) and it's super cool how it's relatively mess-free to apply the mask. It's also easy to remove.
Matcha Cleanser is a daily cleanser as well as an exfoliant whilst being microbeads-free. Just think about how easy it is to take travelling (as it doesn't count as part of your liquid restriction, yay!).
Matcha Toner is the world's first solid toner. It has similar key ingredients as the mask (kombucha and witch hazel) to detoxifying your pores but it also hydrates your skin with the cactus elixir. I am intrigued by the Matcha Detoxifying Mask and will definitely look into purchasing the full size.
- WATERMELON -2 products in the Watermelon range: Watermelon Brightening Face Mask and Watermelon Brightening Serum. Not much I can say about these products as I only had a little swatch and I thought that the mask felt like the Matcha Mask but with pink colour, whilst the Watermelon Brightening Serum felt like Matcha Toner. Having said that, I might buy both of these as I just have a thing for watermelon in skincare.
- OIL -Sunshine Oil is dubbed the "everything" oil as it can be used everywhere. It has a zesty scent due to grapefruit peel, lemon peel, tangerine peel, mandarin orange peel oils (there is a lot of citruses). So if you don't like a zesty scent, stay away! The packaging has UV protection so the bacteria won't grow in the oil. How clever?!
Hydrating Oil Stick is packed with a multitude of oils (jojoba, avocado, grape, apricot etc). The stick is clear, so it looks very chic. Great for adding moisture and shine but it won't replace your highlighter. I might get this but I don't need it.
- KUSH -There are two Kush lip products in the range: Kush Lip Balm and Kush Lip Glaze. Both have cannabis oil but they are not psychoactive. They look green but blend in clear. The difference is that the Lip Balm is used to add and seal in hydration whilst the Lip Glaze is used as an overnight lip mask or to add high shine (like a lip gloss). Both are quite pepperminty.
Kush Fiber Brow Gel comes in 3 shades: Haze, Dutch and Grind. They have heart-shaped fibres to thicken the look of your brows, the tinted shade can also adhere directly to your skin and add a more defined look. As all of their products are vegan, they do not use beeswax and cannabis oil works as a binding component and add conditioning benefit to the products in their Kush range.
Kush Clear Brow Gel doesn't have any fibres so perfect for male grooming or someone with already great brows (I am jealous).

Kush High Volume Mascara is a fibre mascara with the same heart-shaped fibres as their brow gels. So they add length and volume. I actually have this mascara and I am still in the process of testing it out! The tube is a super heavy and luxurious metal (apparently made in the same factory as Ferrari!). From this range, I am 100% getting Kush Fiber Brow Gel because I need to see if it's as good as Glossier Boy Brow.
- BASE -Flex Concealer comes in 16 shades and a doe foot applicator. Inspired by Liquid Band-Aid to gives that flexibility without creasing. I have only had a little swatch so I can't say if it's true to its claim but I am definitely interested in trying it out.
Holographic Stick comes in three shades: Stardust (holographic pink), Supernova (holographic lavender) and Mars (holographic golden peach). They are not true 'holo' as described by the queen of holo (Cristine from Simplynailogical) but they do contain meteorite powder! Despite being dubbed 'holographic', all the shades are actually wearable for every day as they are not 'too in your face'. My favourite from the bunch is Mars.
Glitter Stick is a solid glitter on a stick with a full glitter payoff. I have never seen anything like it. Literally, swipe and sparkle. Perfect product for doing a festival or party look. The glitter stick is weirdly more holographic than the Holographic stick.
Lit Highlighter was recently in my disappointing product post but it was mainly down to me hating on stick highlighter. It's not their fault, it's me.
Matte Bronzer comes in 2 shades: Baked and Blaze. They are creamy matte bronzer with a really nice colour payoff. Unlike stick highlighter, I am a big fan of stick/cream bronzer. So I will be picking this up.
Lip + Cheek products have 5 shades: Werk (Dusty Rose), Perk (Coral with shimmer), Quickie (Berry), Rally (Mauve with shimmer) and Swish (Pink). They are creamy without feeling sticky.
They have a nice colour payoff and you can definitely build it up and sheer it out. Super-versatile. I have my eyes on the shade Werk and Quickie!
- EYE -Eye Pigment has 10 beautiful shades. They are very pigmented and near impossible to remove once dry (unless with an oil cleanser). My favourite shade is Rave which is the iconic purple.
Long Wear Gel Liner has 6 shades in both matte and shimmer. They come with a smudger and sharpener which is useful for creating any smokey looks.
Tattoo Stamp has so many different shapes and even have astrology signs (for those that are into that astrology vibe). I stamped some shapes onto my hand and tried to remove them with makeup wipes and soap. They didn't even budge. So if you are planning on stamping them on your face, make sure to have some oil cleanser around!
Cooling Water stick is really nice to use in a hot office as it feels so refreshing on the skin. The Cooling Water stick is infused with caffeine to support micro-circulation and de-puff skin. It also soothes and hydrates skin. I like it but I don't know if everyone needs it. The stick also comes as Eye Patches form.
I think these are mostly everything that is coming to the UK (I might have missed out 1-2 products that I didn't get a chance to swatch). Products Loved By Other People That I Hate

Well, that sounded harsh but not every product will have a universal appeal and there are a few products that work well for other people that just don't work so well for me. Just a disclaimer that I have nothing against these brands or the people that love these products.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder | £29

This is the cult setting powder that literally everyone uses. For me, I was never really wowed by the powder as I feel that it can make me look slightly cakey. My prefered one is Beauty Bakerie Flour Setting Powder in Translucent. It's about £10 cheaper and it makes my face looks flawless for hours.

BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector in Light to Medium | £21

I was sucked in by marketing and recommendations from other people when I purchased this. A lot of people love it as it supposed to eradicate dark undereye and for that, I have to agree. It does help brighten the dark circles but my issue with it is that it doesn't layer well with any of my concealers and the texture is too sticky to use on its own.

Glossier Haloscope in Moonstone & Quartz | £18

I might have to come to terms with the fact that stick highlighters are just not for me! I don't think that it does much for my skin, whenever I use it I just don't get that glow that I am looking for. I would say that it's nice to use on a no-makeup makeup day. It's definitely something that I can live without.

MILK MAKEUP Everyday Dewy Highlighter in Lit | $24

Did you know that MILK MAKEUP will be launching in the UK on the 28th of January, via Cult Beauty? I am looking forward to try other products from the range but this one just doesn't work for me but I think I might be the issue here but I just don't think that I like stick highlighters as I am someone who loves a more blinding glow. I guess you can use it underneath other powder highlights or as a body highlighter. I just don't find myself reaching for it very often. Also, I the stick is way too bulky for me to carry it around.

CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation in 30 Beige | £37

I really tried to love this foundation but I just don't see the hype, sorry. I find that the finish of the foundation makes me look sickly. It transfers like crazy and it creases around my smile lines. It's a no for me!

3 Years: Reflecting On My Career and Life in London

How has it been three years since I graduated uni and moved to London already? On one hand, it felt like a really long time but I also don't feel like it has been that long.
I thought I would make this post after I had a session with Dr Neruna Ramlakhan about sleep. One of her tips was to think about the things that you are thankful for that day and that got me thinking about all the things that I should be thankful for in my day to day life. I was having a really tough time and I felt that that exercise really lifted my mood and I also want to write down what I've achieved in the past three years too.
I know that I am guilty of spending a lot of time lamenting over what my life should be, what I have yet to achieve and not appreciate life for what it is. For me, this post will just be a slight reminder of how far I have come in a short space of time and hopefully, I come back and read this on my next difficult day. (So, hi future Wanischa).
- CAREER - In November 2015, I moved to London with no job (granted my boyfriend's family had put me up in their house for months. I literally can not thank them enough, this journey wouldn't have even started without their support back then and the continuous support now).
Somehow with my move, the stars had aligned and I received a job offer to start an internship in my dream career. I was quite a nervous wreck during my six-month internship because the permanent job offer wasn't guaranteed and I was so close to burning out at the end. After I moved out of my boyfriend's parents house. I was renting a room in Battersea that cost about 65% of my monthly income. I was barely able to afford travelling to work and buy food.
Things became a little bit easier when my internship became permanent, despite how I felt when I finally left that job after over a year and a half. I am super grateful for all the opportunities that I was given at that place. All my ideas were welcomed and implemented. I had opportunities to learn and grow professionally and personally. I had an amazing manager that was supportive and understanding. Most importantly, I've met life-long friends there too. Sometimes, the feeling of bitterness masked some of the wonderful experiences I had at that job.
Nonetheless, one of the best decision I have ever made was to leave that job as I had already outgrown it. In my new job, I've finally made it into the company that I aspired to see behind the closed door. I was impressed and excited to see how different a company runs. I was able to focus my attention on the aspect of marketing that I am most interested in and grow in that area.
The highlight of my career has to be when I finally more than double my salary from when I started 3 years ago. It feels refreshing to not have to worry about whether or not you can afford to pay tube fare that day.
- LIFE - When you didn't grow up in London and don't have many friends. Sometimes, big cities can feel really lonely. I moved into a flat in Battersea with 2 strangers, which I honestly found very difficult since I really wanted a quiet space of my own where I can just turn off at the end of the day. After a year of living there. I, unfortunately, didn't get on with one of my newer flatmates and that pushed me to find a new place to live.
With my permanent position and salary increase. I was able to afford to rent a studio where I finally had my sanctuary. I loved that place, even if I can literally cook my dinner from my bed. The main thing was I didn't have to share it with anyone.
At the end of 2017, my boyfriend and I started to look for our own place. We spent our weekend visiting different places and seen some awful flats at extortionate prices. Just before Christmas of 2017, we finally found our flat and started the process of buying it. Throughout the process, we didn't get much time to appreciate the excitement of it as we were both quite worried about something coming up to jeopardise the process like the mortgage not coming through or the surveyor finding something seriously wrong with the place.
We only managed to relax and believe that we were buying a flat when we actually got our keys at the end of March 2018. Even now, I still can't believe my luck and how far my life has come as I sit in our own flat. Since moving in, I have had my ups and downs when I seriously questioned myself and my sanity when I was unhappy because I couldn't understand why I am not fully happy, despite that the fact that I have everything I have ever wanted. Until I realised that I don't spend enough time appreciating my life, instead, I criticised myself for not doing enough to progress myself and for not having the perfect 'Instagrammable' life.
Now that I have been in London for a few years, I have friends that recently just moved to London and now I feel like I have gathered a few close friends that I see occasionally and I feel like that's enough.
Every once in awhile, I need to take a step back and track my progress. Even if it's just a small step and appreciate the inner struggle I went through.

You Need to Try These 4 Game Changers for Dry Skin

Winter is a terrible time for my skin, it has a tendency to crack and gather up some dry patches a lot. These 4 products are some of my tried and tested bits that are really game-changing when I feel like my dryness is getting out of control. Just as a note, my skin is dry and a little bit sensitive and I have a strong preference for oil-based products.
Pixi Glow Tonic | £18 I was introduced to this magic potion through work as they were looking for a Glow Tonic virgins to try it out for a month. Honestly, I didn't expect it to help my skin as much as it did. Before trying it out, my skin was suffering from some congestion around my jawlines with a lot of dry patches. After just 2 weeks of constant usage, I saw a visible difference in my skin. My skin appeared brighter, with a reduction in breakouts and dry patches. If you have yet to try glycolic acid, Glow Tonic is the perfect introduction product.
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist | £50 "FIFTY POUNDS FOR A BLOODY MIST!" I hear you exclaim in shock but hear me out. Queen of Hungary Mist is unlike any other mists I have ever tested and I have tried a few. I find that it's such a complexion pick me up during the day and in-between skincare steps. It's totally addictive since it refreshes your skin without drowning you in water. I mist this thing sometimes a little bit too liberally because it just feels so nice. Whilst using this, you don't need to squeeze your eyes closed in fear of it getting in your eyes or ruining your makeup. If it's good enough for a queen, then it's good enough for me and you. Josh Rosebrook Advanced Hydration Mask | £65 This mask contains a whole host of oils which is sometimes what my dry skin clearly needs to just seal together the dryness. The mask itself has a very balm-like consistency which you can warm up between your fingers before applying it onto your face. You can also use this as a cleansing balm but my favourite way to use it is to leave it on for about 30 minutes on clean skin before removing it with a warm cloth. Get ready to say hello to soft, supple skin and goodbye to dry, dull skin. You can thank me later.
The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane | £5.50 This product is super cheap and super cheerful. This oil will help maintains the skin barrier and hydration (you with the dry skin, you need this!). I genuinely love using it as the last step of my skincare routine (after moisturiser). It really does seal in the hydration and keep other products lock-in. I really notice a difference in my skin when I don't use this. So, obviously, I already have a backup bottle of this in my drawers.

How to Have a Relaxing Holiday in Prague

As a very last minute getaway in November, I booked a relaxing city break in Prague for a couple of days. It was a mixture of the last holiday of the year and a celebration for Kyri's birthday. Since I work in e-commerce, we have a holiday ban around Black Friday and Christmas time. It was my chance to take a break before the craziest time of the year.

This was the first visit to Prague for both of us and we didn't have a lot of expectations for Prague but we just wanted to have some time away from London life. Ultimately, we both had a great time and the city really exceeded all the expectations that we didn't have. Here was how we spent our 2 days break in Prague...

Preparing for the Trip

Like I said that this trip was extremely last minute (I booked the flight 3 days before hands, we don't do far in advanced trip in this household). EASYJET flight from London Gatwick to Prague was around £80-£90 each which wasn't too bad. The flight itself took 2 hours, which is less time and less money than getting to Middlesbrough via train (isn't that just madness?).

In terms of money, we aren't really a cash-carrying type of people and for this trip, I just started using Monzo card for most transactions as you can see exactly how much you are spending straightaway with the exchange rate. Majority of places in the Czech Republic accept both Euro and Czech Krona but it was usually cheaper to pay using Krona. So far, I am really liking the card and will be using it for my future trips.

Sights to See

For our first day, we spent the majority of our times walking around Old Town because we just love the medieval vibe and the breathtaking architecture. Around here, you will see Charles Bridge, Astronomical Clock, Old Town Hall and Church of Our Lady Before Týn.

On the second day, we ventured out on the other side of the Charles Bridge and explored Prague Castle, Mala Strana before going around the Jewish Quarter and back to Old Town. Admittedly, we didn't go to any museums as we were not feeling any of them and preferred to have a very relaxing time walking around and eating.

Getting Around

You will be glad to know that Uber works in Prague and it also has a designated Uber pick up area at the airport (is this a new thing because we have had so many issues in other European cities). The hotel we stayed at was about 30 minutes away from the airport but overall it was a super easy journey.

Prague city is fairly small and we travelled everywhere on foot with the help of Google Maps. The only time we used the tram was when we went to the Palace.

Where to Eat & Drink

Even with my best intentions to explore all the different dishes. Sometimes, your mood just takes you to different places. Overall, food in Prague wasn't too bad but there wasn't a lot of standout places for us but that might be entirely our fault as we were in the mood to eat random things like Vietnamese, Indian and burgers... There are no breakfast places to recommend as we had a free breakfast with our apartment.

For our first night, we arrived quite late and we went to have dinner at Smíchovský radniční sklípek which was the only Czech meal we had and was probably the tastiest (and the cheapest of the entire trip). The next day, we had dinner at Sad Man's Tongue Bar & Bistro. The burger and chips there were very nice but I would suggest you arrive early and bring cash (as they don't take card!). After a cold day, we really wanted something warming. There is nothing like a warm hug to your souls like pho and Vietnamese Coffee at Muc Dong. On the last day, we went for Indian food at K The Two Brothers for dinner.

As non-cat people, we sure do go to a few cat cafe because sometimes you just want to pet some fluffy animals and drink some coffee. As of midday break, we also had some matcha latte and soup at Bistro Monk (I, unfortunately, had some stomach issues right after eating there... so, try at your own risk).

My favourite snack in Prague has to be Trdelník. It's like a cross between the croissant and ice cream cone. You can find them pretty much everywhere in Prague. The one I went to was Good Food. We went there twice and tried 2 different flavours, we would recommend the Chimney King as it was so good. The Charcoal one was slightly bit strange with the activated charcoal having the texture of sugar as you grind your teeth together. Weird.

For our last night, we went to have a few cocktails at The Alchemist Bar. It's definitely a drink and an experience. I ordered the Choose My Fate as I just want to have the Tarot cards fun but I am not a big drinker. I picked up The Hermit card but luckily the waitress recommended The Temperance instead and I loved it! Highly recommend as the place to visit.

How To Make Vietnamese Coffee At Home

Is there anything better than a cup of coffee in the morning?! For my fellow coffee lover who is craving Vietnamese Coffee at home. I am sharing my method to make it at home and you can literally have it whenever you want. Try it out and I am sure that you will be absolutely hooked.
I can't say that my way is the authentic way but it sure does fulfil a need for something strong and sweet. The coffee is rich and smooth with a chocolatey hint. The condensed milk provides the perfect touch of sweetness that complements the coffee so wonderfully.
What you need:

Vietnamese Coffee Filter | £8.99
2 teaspoons of Trung Nguyen S Blend Vietnamese Coffee Ground | £5.45
1 teaspoon of Carnation Sweetened Condensed Milk | £2.50
Hot Water (enough to fill the cup)
Cup/Glass

Instructions:

Add condensed milk to your glass (adjust the amount depending on your preference for sweetness).
Add coffee ground to the filter and press down the gravity insert.
Add a little bit of water, just so the coffee ground "bloom" and expand.
Pour the rest of the water into the filter and put on the cover.
Wait for the coffee to finish dripping.
Remove the filter from the glass.
Stir the coffee and condensed milk together.
Enjoy!

5 Best Discoveries of 2018 You Need to Try

Welcome to 2019! Hope you all have a fantastic year ahead. 2018 had been quite a year for me, especially as I went slightly overboard with beauty shopping. Having tried so many things last year it also means that I can share my best discoveries with you right here. Let me know in the comments what was your best beauty discovery of the year.
Best for the Natural Glow Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter in Shade 3 Light/Medium | £30 When I first saw this product launched, I was very confused about what it's supposed to be. "A primer? Highlighter? Tinted base? What even is it?!". Somehow I fell in love upon the first swatch and bought it straight away. My favourite way of using it is as a highlighter base and highlighter topper. It gives the most natural 'je ne sais quoi' glow to the face. It's permanently in my travel makeup bag. Best for the Well-Groomed Brows Glossier Boy Brow in shade Black | £14 I have featured this product before in this post as one of my favourite picks from Glossier. This is by far one of my best discoveries for brows. Perfect for the days that you don't want to wear a lot of makeup but still want something to make your brows look put together. For days that I wear a lot of makeup, I still use Boy Brow to brush up the brows to make sure they stay in place and look fluff up all day. If you haven't tried this already, you really need to.
Best for the Instaglam Brows Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade & Brush 12 | £19 & £18 I actually bought the pomade a while ago without Brush 12 and I wasn't particularly wowed by the product itself. It ended up sitting in one of my drawers for months. About 3 months ago, I decided to buy the brush as I wanted to finish the products I have without buying yet another brow pencil. Brush 12 really changed the entire DipBrow Pomade experience for me. Brush 12 is fairly stiff but its brushstroke creates the perfect hair-like strokes and the spoolie side blends out any heavy-handed mistakes with ease. With the duo, it takes me about 5 minutes max to do my brows as supposed to the usual 15. I can even do my brows on the train!
Best for De-Stress Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Mind Bath & Shower Oil | £49 London life is full of daily stress. My favourite way to unwind is to have a bath and my favourite bath companion has to be this De-Stress Mind Bath & Shower Oil. With just a small capful in the running bath and the bathroom will fill with its aromatic scents of Wild Chamomile, Petitgrain, Frankincense and Rosemary. It's an incredible way to wind down after a stressful day. It will also leave your skin super soft and smooth (no need to moisturise!).

My Empty Products That You Might be Curious About

As someone who hoards beauty products. It's very difficult to finish anything unless I really enjoy it (or in some cases, forced myself to use it up). In the past year, I have been collecting the carcasses of my empties to do a post and reflect my relationship with them.
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Moisturising Shower Cream-Gel | £21 I'm sure you have heard about the Bum Bum Cream and this in-the-shower version is just as obsession-worthy. The summer scent is truly addictive and I love using this body wash, followed by the Bum Bum Cream and topping up with spritzes of the body mist throughout the day. Can you tell that I am obsessed with Sol de Janeiro?
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Geranium & Neroli | £32 One product that I regularly recommend to people looking for a great hair product is Elasticizer. If it was good enough for Audrey Hepburn then it is good enough for me! It gives my hair its bounce and shines that I was looking for when I was trying to repair some damage from excessive hair dyeing in my youth. Now I use it once every 1-2 weeks for maintenance and make my hair feels less fluffy. The Geranium & Neroli version has the most incredible smell and has ignited my love for this scents combination. Honestly, I can't live without it!
Sarah Chapman Rapid Radiance Cleanse | £33 Did you know that I love Sarah Chapman? I think everyone who ever had a conversation with me, knows that I love Sarah Chapman. Her Rapid Radiance Cleanse is great for morning time and on days I don't wear makeup. It has a detoxify properties yet it's never drying. With a cocktail of clay, vitamin c, lactic and salicylic acids. It does everything I wanted it to do. An added bonus is that it has my two favourite essential oils; geranium and neroli. Would recommend it for anyone with dry skin looking for a gentle morning cleanser/quick mask!
Sand&Sky Brilliant Skin Purifying Pink Clay Mask | £39.90 I rarely ever finish a mask but I just couldn't stop using this every week until it was all gone. It's just so easy to remove! Even my boyfriend doesn't mind me testing this out on him as it's super easy to wash off. I saw some incredible results on social media but on me, I just noticed brightening effect and it helped with my weekly deep cleansing.
Clarins Double Serum | £75 This one was from their old recipe about a couple of years ago (it took me that long to finish it!). Recommended by my favourite makeup artist; Pearypie. Great for hydration, radiance and smoother skin. I really enjoyed using it but after sticking to one serum for 2 years, I'm ready to explore something new!
Eve Lom Cleanser | £55 I finished this cleanser ridiculously quickly, mainly because the instruction required me to wash my face THREE times! It took too long to wash my face but my skin was left feeling nourished and very squeaky clean. It started to enjoy the ritual of it. It's a shame that for such an expensive product, the quality of the ingredients didn't quite live up to the price (the first ingredient is mineral oil).
Glossier Priming Moisturizer | £18 If you have seen my Glossier roundup post. Then you already know that I hate this moisturiser... It really doesn't agree with my skin and it burns my eyes. It's an all round 'no' from me. What was the last product you used up?

Matte Lips That Won't Budge

Queen of Instagram, Huda Kattan, currently racking up over 26 million followers on the platform. Admittedly, Huda Beauty wasn't on my radar until a year ago when I started working for my current job and now I will buy anything she comes out with. It all started with one Liquid Matte.

Her first product I have ever tried was Huda Beauty Liquid Matte in Trendsetter. It was for a work instastory, and I was testing out the longevity of the liquid lipstick. I filmed myself applying the Liquid Matte at the beginning of the day, with check-in at lunch and then another video when I got home, all day with no touch-up. Let's just say that I was blown away by the result that I started a little Huda Beauty collection of my own.

As the name would suggest, the consistency of this Liquid Matte is very thin and liquidy. It was so liquidy that when I first applied it, it thought it was going to be a sheer formula that I had to build up to get any coverage. However, it's more of a 'one swipe and you are good to go' kind of liquid lipstick because it is so pigmented.

With its lightweight formula, it applies with a slight sheen and dries down to a matte finish. Despite being a matte lipstick, it's not at all drying or uncomfortable. On me, I find that it lasts all day with no issues. It doesn't even budge when I was slurping Pho for lunch.

It has a normal doe foot applicator but I find the wand on the full sized version a little too long to control. Hence why I only bought the mini sized (also because I just want to collect all the shades and I can't finish full sized items anyway).

The current Liquid Matte collection comes in 20 shades with a mixture of brights, cool and warm-toned nudes. My favourite shades are Trendsetter and Wifey. The scent reminds me of drinking Coke and Malibu which I don't hate (since it's the only alcoholic drink that doesn't have a terrible effect on me haha).

I would recommend Huda Beauty Liquid Matte for anyone looking for a liquid lipstick that won't dry out your lips that will also last all day. I would be tempted to buy more shades when Huda decides to extend this range but for now, I guess I will be the first in the queue to try her new Demi Matte range.

My Top 5 Makeup Tools

I just hate the feeling of applying my makeup with my fingers (they get so sticky!) and I always do my makeup on my way to work (err...that extra 30 minutes in bed is super important). I usually take makeup tools so I don't have to touch my face. The tools I'm mentioning are not only great for popping in your bag but also to use at your vanity too.
Zoeva Concealer Buffer Brush | £8.99 It's a very densely-packed brush with soft bristle, perfect for blending out cream concealer (I love using this with Glossier Stretch Concealer). The brush can also be used with a thicker consistency product such as Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I really enjoy using this brush as it blends out my concealer seamlessly. Despite being a fairly reasonable priced brush, I am very impressed by the quality of Zoeva brushes.
Sigma Eye Shading Brush E55 | £12.75 Another one of my favourite densely-packed brush. I have a couple of this particular brush. I use one for applying and blending cream eyeshadow and I use the other to pack on shimmery eyeshadows. Can you really have too many of these brushes in your collection though?!
Zoeva Luxe Powder Fusion Brush | £9.99 If you are looking for a brush to make your highlight really pop, look no further! This brush is everything you need. It really buffs the highlighter into your skin to get that gleaming look. Although the brush can be used for eyes I find that my eyes are way too small to use this for that purpose.
IsaDora Face Sculptor Blush Brush | £15.25 I honestly didn't expect much from this brush but it is my favourite brush from my entire collection. I use it with any of my powder products from face powder, blusher, contour and occasionally highlighter. It's a perfect little multitasker as the bristle disperses the product evenly without collecting in the bristle itself. I genuinely feel very lost without this brush in my makeup bag.
BeautyBlender | £17 I don't think I need to harp on about this sponge as I am sure most of you have probably tried it or heard people singing its praises. If you haven't, just get it because your foundation game would never be the same again! It's also great for baking, blending liquid highlighter and making you look flawless. Here Are My Thoughts on These 8 Glossier Products

I'm sure you have all heard about Glossier. They launched in the UK in October last year. I admit I have been sucked in by their marketing and cult following. I received a box of Milky Jelly Cleanser, Haloscope in Moonstone and a Priming Moisturiser before it launched and I also bought Boy Brow in Black, Cloud Paint in Beam, Balm Dotcom in Rose, Generation G in Leo and Stretch Concealer in Medium. So I have tried a pretty good range of their products and some work well for me and some just weren't for me.
SKINCARE

Milky Jelly Cleanser | £15 I have been using this cleanser as my weekend cleanser for a few months and I do really like it. It has an artificial rose scent. I normally massage it on dry skin before adding water. It has a jelly consistency which turns milky (hence the name) once mixed with water. I find that it's a great fuss-free cleanser and it removes my makeup without the need of rubbing and tugging. It also doesn't irritate my sensitive skin and leaves my skin feeling soft and supple. I definitely would consider repurchasing.

Priming Moisturiser | £18 I genuinely hate this product. The first time I tried it burns my eyes and I didn't even get it near my eyes. I didn't find it neither hydrating nor buildable. It irritated my skin and burn the areas of my skin that was slightly dry. My skin is left red, raw, rough and patchy especially around my chin and cheeks. So, it's not a product that I would recommend to soothe your skin. If you don't believe me, read other reviews on this product. I wanted to chuck this in the bin so bad!

Balm Dotcom in Rose | £10 This balm isn't the most moisturising balm I have ever tried but it has a permanent position in my handbag. It's super useful for when I have dry patches as it melts onto my skin without leaving the telltale shiny layer and it has a nice rose scent.
MAKEUP

Boy Brow in Black | £14 Hands down one of the best thing to ever happen to my eyebrows since the beginning of time. If you have ever wondered how people got feathery looking brows. It is this product! I have been asked so many times by so many different people about what I use on my brows and it's this plus ABH Brow Wiz. Also, your brows will stay put all day! I already have a backup of this already. It's not something that I am prepared to live without.
Haloscope in Moonstone | £18 A lot of people I know love this highlighter but I'm not sure that I'm particularly fond of this shade as I find it too sparkly. Although, I have to say that it gives a really hydrated dewy glow. I am tempted to buy the shade Quartz to try as well.

Cloud Paint in Beam | £15 I wasn't a massive fan of blush until Cloud Paint has been added to my routine. It instantly adds a healthy glow to my otherwise dull winter complexion. It's very easy to blend but I'm not keen on the packaging because it occasionally releases too much product if the tube has been crush by other things in the bag.

Generation G in Leo | £14 This lipstick reminds me of Crayola, both in scent and texture. It's not a complete no for me as there are some things about it that I do enjoy. It has a very natural finish (completely shine-free) and I sometimes use it on my eyelid and cheeks for that monochrome look too.

Stretch Concealer in Medium | £15 I didn't think I'd like this as I normally prefer high coverage concealer to cover my dark circles but this concealer is something else! It has a light but buildable coverage that you can use all over your face. It gives a very natural no-makeup makeup look. It's hydrating and doesn't settle into fine lines but because it's so hydrating my mascara smudges onto my under eyes whenever I use it, even when I set it with powder. I usually hate a product that I have to use my fingers to apply but I like this Stretch Concealer enough to make an exception.
My overall experience with Glossier has been very positive. I have enjoyed the majority of their products and there is only one thing that I hated (Priming Moisturiser). I would definitely be made to make another order and try out other products in the range. On my next to buy list is Lidstars and of course another backup for my Boy Brow.

Are These Highlighters Actually Wearable?

This Anastasia Beverly Hills Aurora Palette comes with 6 metallic powder highlighters and after I have been using them for a few months. I think they are actually more wearable than I thought. Call me crazy but one of my all-time favourite highlighters is from this Anastasia Beverly Hill Aurora Glow Kit! Even though, I'm not that experimental with my looks. But I love the shade Spectra, it is just so gorgeous on the face. I know that this palette isn't for everyone but you just have to give it a chance for it to surprise you!
All the highlighter shades in this palette look very 'out there' in the pans but I am here to tell you that they are wearable! I wasn't into this palette when it first launched either but when I saw my friend wearing one of these shades in real life. I felt like I needed it. Also, you won't have anything like it in your collection because you know you have enough of those pinky goldy shades...

Probably worth noting that they won't look this pigmented when you are wearing them as highlighters, I swatched heavily for the camera only.

Eclipse - pink champagne streaked with pearl On me this shade looks like a pale gold with pearl streaks. I don't wear this shade very often because whenever I'm in the mood for a normal highlighter, this isn't usually the palette I reach for.
Luna - mother of pearl with icy orchid undertones This shade looks like a true silver on me and I never use it as a highlighter as I have a warmer skin tone and I think it would look slightly bit weird. I mainly use this as an inner eye highlighter.
Spectra - sparkling lilac pearl with an iridescent blue-green reflect This shade looks almost grey in the pan but on the face, it is the most gorgeous highlighter that has ever graced my face. It's different without being too out there and it looks beautiful when it catches the light. I use it to highlight both my face and inner eye corner.
Helia - yellow-gold pearl with a hint of turquoise The highlighter isn't as intense as my swatch, it usually more of a sheen of colour. This shade looks green on me and I only use it as eyeshadow and inner eyes highlight. I haven't been brave enough to use it as a full-on highlighter yet but I will definitely try and use it more in the future.
Orion - blue pearl with hints of purple amethyst Orion has the same issue as Helia and I haven't really used it much as I have been a little bit afraid of the colour. It has a pale icy blue shade. It is gorgeous for when I want to do a cool toned look. Although, I think someone paler might enjoy this shade better.
Lyra - rose gold pearl streaked with amber champagne It's a peachier and golden highlighter. This shade looks like it would be another wearable shade in the palette but I'm not super keen on it as I find the glitter chunks to be too big and it clings too much at any imperfections.

Overall, I really enjoy having this palette in my collection as it is something completely different and not easily replicated or something you can find a dupe for. Although, I find myself reaching for this palette mainly to use Spectra. Which isn't worth me spending money on the entire palette but I have no regret. Also, it is worth noting that some of the shades in this palette has some glitter particles and doesn't look as smooth as the other ABH highlighters. So, if you are looking for a completely glitter-free highlighter, you might want to avoid but also do get it for Spectra...

The Most Compact Contour Kit Ever

Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter in Medium Dark Shift

I have been testing out this very convenient contour kit from Urban Decay for a while now. Although, I like the fact that this kit has both powder and cream with seemingly everything you will ever need for that perfectly contoured look. Unfortunately, I think that this Medium Dark palette is too dark for me and Light Medium palette is also too light. So I haven't been reaching for this kit very often as I'd need a lot of time to blend everything in. Urban Decay recommends blending shades from both palettes for someone in the mid-range shade like me...but who's going buy both versions?

The cream side has 5 pans (2 for contour, 2 for colour correcting and one for highlighting). I found that the darkest colour shade is too dark for my NC25 skin tone. Whenever I use it I just look slightly bit muddy and dirty. I am also not a fan of the rest of the cream shades in this palette, as I don't normally colour correct and I don't find the highlighting shade to be blinding enough for my taste. I don't really find myself reaching for any of the pans on this side.

The powder side comes with 4 pans (3 for contouring and one for highlighting). I find that the darkest contour shade is too dark for me but the lighter one is sometimes usable for me. However, I find that the contour powders are slightly bit too powdery and give too much kick back when I swirl my brush in it. This is something that I don't like because the mess stresses me out. One thing that I really like about this palette is the highlighter shade. It is a gorgeous pink toned highlighter with a golden shift which is very wearable for every day.
Would I recommend this palette?: Probably not, if you are an in-between shade like me but I really enjoy the packaging concept of this as it's very travel-friendly with double sided mirrors. I am mainly keeping it because I love the highlighter shade.

Should We Worry About Ingredients in Our Beauty Products?

Before I started working at my current job. I was someone who thought "it doesn't matter what ingredients are inside the products as long as they work". It was the rise of The Ordinary that I started to take notice of ingredient names such as Hyaluronic acid, Retinoid, Salicylic acid etc. Prior to that, I honestly had no idea what they are for and even now I understand the basic but I am still not knowledgeable enough to advise in that regard.
At my work, we have training sessions where brands come into the office to explain why and how their products work. I always look forward to these training sessions because different brand founders have different takes on different ingredients. Although at times it might be confusing to learn about conflicting ideas at the end of the day I got to learn as much as I can and I can try to form an opinion for myself by making further research.
When it comes to the choice between picking products with only natural ingredients and products with scientific research to support its claims. It is still a decision that I struggle with. On one hand, I have started to become aware of how my skin absorbs products and I worry about bad ingredients build up in my system that might cause problems in the future. However, on the other hand, I realised that just because something is natural, it doesn't mean that it's better.
It has taken me a long while to realise that some high-end products are more expensive because of the ingredients inside (some are because of brand names and marketing cost). So, it really worth knowing what ingredients are inside your products and work out whether or not it's worth the high price tag before you splash out.

Amsterdam Travel Guide

If you have read my last post on my plan for a weekend trip to Amsterdam and followed me on Instagram (@wanischa). You probably know that pretty much most of my "plan" did not go to plan at all. Unfortunately, my boyfriend got ill at the beginning of the trip and we couldn't do everything that I had planned. So, here are what we did instead.
The Arrival My boyfriend's start of flu was brewing the night earlier as we had a major issue trying to get from the airport to the hotel. We couldn't take the train because there was a fire situation and the station had closed off all platforms. We tried to get an Uber but we couldn't find the pickup point because the GPS on the app didn't work properly. The Uber driver got super angry at us and called us swearing... Anyway, we gave up on trying to get an Uber and we waited for the train station to open again. Fortunately, the hotel wasn't that far away. We stayed at XO Hotel Couture, which was 10 minutes walk from Lelylaan Train Station. The hotel itself was utterly awful and terrible comfort wise. The pillows were really uncomfortable and the bed was too hard. I don't really understand how it is a 4 stars hotel.
First Day Itinerary The terrible situation the night before and the air con in the hotel stirred up some sort of cold symptoms for my boyfriend and he wasn't having a particularly good time in the morning. Me being me and trying to stick to my neatly planned schedule as I think that he would like the places that I picked out.
Brunch - We ventured out to get brunch at Piqniq. This place didn't disappoint! The food comes in smaller portions so you can pick a few different things to try. We went for 4 items for €12 each because we were both really hungry. I later noticed that most people had only 3 items each. Our favourite was Pulled Chicken Focaccia. Also, the server was super nice and made us feel really welcomed. I would definitely go back here.
Morning Activity - My plan was to walk around but since Amsterdam was so rainy and cold that day. My increasingly ill boyfriend did not want to walk around so we decided to do a canal cruise with Lovers Canal Cruises for €13 each instead. It was a great activity to do to get out of the rain and see a lot of Amsterdam in a short space of time.
Afternoon Activity - Me taking my boyfriend back to the hotel room. Making him take some paracetamols and take a nap. He didn't wake up until it well over into dinner time.
Dinner - I finally woke my boyfriend up at around 6pm to go out and eat at The Happy Bull. The food itself was okay. We definitely have had better burger elsewhere. Also, they only have 2 non-beef burgers options; chicken and veggie.
Evening Activity - Back to the hotel after dinner to get an early night as we have to wake up early the next day.
Second Day Itinerary Since we needed to stock some more paracetamols and get some sort of breakfast before visiting Anne Frank House. We went to Lidl to get some water, paracetamols and some croissants (where we were completely puzzled on how to get them out and had to ask a local...).
Morning Activity - Visit Anne Frank House. So, I've just found out that my boyfriend hadn't heard of Anne Frank before until I insisted on visiting this place. It was a strange experience to see the condition in which people had to endure during such a horrible time and we had learned so much from that experience. We are going to read her diaries together at some point, after we finish Man's Search for Meaning.
Lunch - From thebeauparlour's recommendation. We visited Fou Fow Ramen, which was a perfect escape meal from a cold day. We both had Tan Tan Men and boyfriend said that it tasted like Bolognese... I personally liked my ramen a lot.
Afternoon Activity - After the soupy ramen, my boyfriend had started to feel well enough to endure 20 minutes of walking around Jordaan area (which I might have extended it by about another 20 minutes with one 5 minutes rest stop on a bench). Then we went back to the hotel so he can actually rest properly.
Dinner - From Ice__Pandora's recommendation. We went to Foodhallen, which is pretty much a food hall with loads of different kind of food. The atmosphere was amazing and lively but it was slightly too busy. I also happened to sat next to annoying group of American tourists who didn't understand the concept of personal space and thought that I didn't speak English until I started to give them evil eyes. We tried the hotdog and fresh Vietnamese rolls there. Both were really good but I started to get stomach pain whilst my boyfriend was also feeling worst for wear and we both made our journey back to the hotel, feeling sorry for ourselves.
Final Day Itinerary Our plan was to have brunch at Dignita before leaving for the airport but when we arrived the queue was so long and they were too busy. So we decided to go to Drovers Dog instead. The food there was not too bad but they forgot the bacon on my dish so I can't give them 5 stars. They did give me a free coffee as an apology though...but that was only after we complained twice (I really wanted bacon that morning).

Planning a trip to Amsterdam

I've recently booked a trip to Amsterdam for my boyfriend's birthday as a belated present. Since we haven't really celebrated our last 2 anniversaries. I have conveniently booked it for our upcoming 3rd anniversary as I wanted to make sure that we will be doing something!
This trip is actually going to be the first trip that I will be planning by myself as my boyfriend is usually the more organised one. So, this will be my opportunity to 'shine' (hopefully).
Today I'm going to be sharing my two days itinerary in Amsterdam with you, in case you are also planning a trip to Amsterdam and looking for some ideas. I will keep you updated about how the plan goes via Instagram (@wanischa) and possibly an updated blog post. Let's get started!
First Day Itinerary Brunch - We will be starting our day with brunch at Piqniq. I picked this place because we always order a few dishes to share but this place is all about having a lot of small dishes so you can try a lot of different things. Perfect for foodies like us!
Morning activity - Walking around Jordaan de Negen Straatjes and De Pijp.
Snack - Try Dutch's raw herring at Rob Wigboldus. It will be interesting to see how this one turns out because my boyfriend hates onions.
Afternoon activity - Continue walking around and exploring. Possibly visit a coffee shop to see what it's all about. The ones on my radar are Dampkring and Greenhouse. Follow by chilling in Vondelpark. Dinner - After a long day of exploring, I've picked a place closer to the hotel in case we are tired and wanted to go back and relax before dinner. The restaurant we will be going to is The Happy Bull which is known for their burgers. Even though I don't eat beef, I'm just so happy to see a burger place that offers a variety of other burgers as well.
Evening activity - On Friday, Van Gogh Museum is open until 9pm so it might be worth a little evening stroll and enjoy the arts whilst there are fewer people around.
Second Day Itinerary Morning activity - I've booked an early entry to the Anne Frank House as I really wanted to visit this place and most of the other time slots were already sold out. So, if you want to go, make sure to book the tickets early online!
Lunch - As a reminiscence of our Brussel's trip where we had the best Mussels and Chips. We are going to Mossel & Gin for lunch.
Afternoon activity - As self confess geeks, we both love playing games and I have found this really cool place with an arcade game called TonTon Club. Depending on how entertaining the place is my other plans include doing a Red Light District Tour or a pedal boat in the Canal.
Dinner - We will be having a relaxed dinner at Restaurant Vlaming which is a small family business!
Evening activity - Depending on how tired we are, I was thinking of doing an Evening Canal Cruise. To see all the Amsterdam all lit up.
Late Night activity - Again, depending on how we feel but I think my boyfriend will love Tales & Spirits since it has Star Wars inspired cocktails!

Top 3 Places to Eat in Porto

If you have been following me on Instagram, you might have noticed that I had a little break in Porto recently. If you haven't, my handle is @wanischa (excuse the shameless self-promo, got to be done!).
For me, one of my favourite thing about Porto is food. For the entire time that my boyfriend and I were there. We only had one disappointing meal which was mainly because all of the other places we tried were so good! I have decided to create this post, mainly because I find that it's such a struggle to find great places to eat whilst you are on holiday and sometimes merely looking on TripAdvisor can be a little bit daunting as there are so many choices to choose from.

BACALHAU The first meal we had was at Bacalhau. We stumbled along to find this place which is by the riverside whilst looking for a different restaurant but we are glad to have stopped here. For dinner, we ordered tuna steak with sweet potato, chips and shrimp porridge. As a disclaimer, I'm not a massive fan of tuna steak but this dish was actually incredible! I've never had anything like it. I particularly enjoyed the sweet potato sauce that accompanied the tuna. It's really a must-try. I also ordered the chips as a side dish, not expecting it to be anything amazing but even the chips blew my mind. The crispy and golden on the outside and soft in the middle and really tasty. The shrimp porridge was something different, tasty but can be a little bit too overpowering and I struggled to eat more than just a couple of spoonful at a time. It's best as a side dish whilst accompanying a less fishy dish. Overall, this place was so good that it made our top 5 places to eat (let me know if you would like to see our complete list of top places to eat!).
TAPABENTO - BAR RESTAURANT For our last dinner in Porto, we booked a table at Tapabento - Bar Restaurant and I highly recommend booking because when we arrived all of the tables were fully booked. Since most restaurants in Porto are so small, it might be worth booking the places you want to eat in advance. As it was our last night and I was in the mood for seafood, we did order a vast amount of food here and I have no regret since the food was incredible. The restaurant made it to our top 2! We ordered foie gras and razor clams as starters, Mozambique shrimps and steak as mains, peanut foam and forest fruits tart as desserts.
I feel like I really need to talk about the foie gras... as you can probably see from the picture above that this restaurant has their presentation down to a T, even though, their food look good, they are not skipping out on the quantity, which is perfect for us. There is nothing worse than leaving an expensive restaurant hungry and having to go to a KFC afterwards (yes, that happened haha).
Anyway, I have a weakness for pan-fried foie gras with some fruity coulis. Before this, I haven't had a good one for a couple of years now as it's quite hard to find a restaurant that serves this in the UK and I do feel bad about eating it. However, this is by far the best foie gras I have ever tasted in my life. It's perfectly seasoned and well balanced with the rest of the dish. If you ever find yourself in Tapabento, you just need to order this dish! Everything we ordered was also amazing but it didn't blow my mind like the foie gras. Still, I would recommend everything I've tried here. Bonus point: the waitress here was lovely.
SABORICCIA I think it might be time for a 'less-indulgent' meal. If you are looking for a simple lunch place whilst you are out shopping. I found Saboriccia on the day that was pouring down with rain and ordered a 7 euros cheese board which came with a pile of bread, 3 different types of cheese and different types of honey. Unlike many cheese boards we have tried previously, we liked all the cheese and ate everything. I particularly loved the honey and was so tempted to bring some home. My boyfriend also really enjoyed the wine there.
Here are the top 3 places I really enjoyed eating in Porto. Let me know if you have been to any of these places and what you think of them.
Runner-up: caBARe: For being open when most of the other restaurants were not and having great seafood pasta that I had to fight my boyfriend because he was eating too much and too fast. Also has a great atmosphere. Didn't make the top list because of too much salt on pimiento Padron, octopus a bit bland and served all the food too quickly...

Liquid Lipsticks That Everyone Should Own

I have an addiction to buying lip products... with so many options, there are very few products that I regularly reach for on an everyday basis. However, everything changed with NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Rome. I was obsessed with this shade for a good few months and I would literally wear it every day! Also, it was the only lip colour I took with me on a trip to Italy.

Nyx Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream uses cities around the world as names for each shade. This is something that I'm particularly fond of since I like to match my lips colour to the city I'm visiting (please don't judge me...). I first bought the shade Rome, just before my trip to Rome and I fell in love with the shade and formula. Prompting me to stock up on several other shades. In my current collection, I have Cannes, Stockholm, Berlin, Budapest and Rome. All of them are perfect for everyday wear.

Nyx Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream has a doe foot applicator that doesn't collect too much product and I find it to be very easy to use to get a fairly neat application on my lips without using lip liner.

The formula is unlike other liquid lipsticks I've tried before. The formula is true to its name as it feels like a soft cream. It glides over dry patches, feels comfortable on the lips, it doesn't crack or peel and the lip cream can be reapplied without the product balling up. Literally, it ticks all the boxes for me.

Although, Nyx Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream comes in an array of crazy out there shades like bright purple. All of the ones that I've gone for are in the same mauve pink and brown because those are just the colours that I'd wear most often.

My honest thoughts about Nyx Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream is that if you haven't tried them yet. Seriously, go out there and grab yourself one! Highly recommend Rome as your first shade.
The price point for these is also amazing as it's around £6, you can also find them on sale occasionally for about £3-£4. Such value for money and definitely a guilt-free makeup treat!

Luxury Beauty Products with No Markups

Unless you happen to work in a beauty industry or have friends with staff discounts for you to abuse. It is quite rare to get luxury makeup at a discounted price. I have been working in the beauty industry for nearly 2 years now and I can tell you one thing is that luxury products always have a very high margin. Staff discount is usually smaller than the margin and it makes me sad to fork out so much money when I can see how much it actually cost but I buy them anyway because I'm an addict.
A few months ago, I came across Beauty Pie (a membership site that allows fellow beauty addicts to access luxury beauty products at factory prices). At first, I didn't really understand how it operates but I always had the company's concept at the back of my mind. Until the beginning of August when I spotted something on the website that piqued my interest and caused me to sign up. The brain behind this is the same person behind Soap & Glory(which is one of my favourite drugstore brands), Bliss Spa, Fit Flops and Soaper Duper; Marcia Kilgore.
Membership
Think of Beauty Pie as an exclusive membership club for beauty addicts. You pay for a membership fee and you can access the member-only benefit of getting your luxury products at factory pricing. The membership costs £10 per month which you can choose to join on a monthly basis (for a minimum of 3 months) or a year for £120. You can also buy a membership as a gift which comes with 3 options: 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. Each month, you will be able to buy £100 (retail price) worth of products. This allowance will rollover to the next month if you don't buy anything.

Postage
P&P is an added cost that you don't get to see until the end. The delivery with Royal Mail within the UK costs £2.99 and DPD Next Day costs £6.10. However, there's also a handling fee of £1.81 per order and 42p per item.
I ordered 6 items with the factory cost of £20.80 and my shipping fee was £7.32. (£1.81 for the order, 6 items x 42p and £2.99 shipping).
When the items arrived, everything was packaged really well in a nice and sturdy box.
Cost
The total cost for my order for the 6 items was £38.12 (£10 membership, £20.80 products and £7.32 postage). This means that they actually cost me on average £6.35 per item. Personally, I think they are a reasonable price for these items but they are not as cheap as they made it out to be. Ultimately, all the products are drugstore prices when you include all the fees. Hopefully, the quality and ingredients are better than the generic drugstore products.

Chosen Products Pro-Glow Superstrobing Drops in Illuminati ~~£22~~ | £3.86 Members Price | £6.75 including all fees I am a self confess highlight addict and I signed up to Beauty Pie mainly because of this product. I have been wanting to try Iconic London Illuminator for a while now but the £32.99 price tag has deterred me from splurging. However, I've noticed that the ingredients on these products are exactly the same, the product size is the same and the packaging is very similar. With those similarities, I just couldn't stop myself from adding another highlighter to my arsenal.
Review - At first, I expected this to be full on mirrored shine. After using this product several times, I quite enjoy using it mixed with foundation to give a subtle glow. Overall, I like it because you can customise how glowy you would like it. Although, I have to agree with most people that it is a little dark and I'm hoping that Beauty Pie will come out with several more shades.
Moonlighting Balm Radiance Powder in Celestial ~~£26~~ | £2.57 Members Price | £5.46 including all fees I am drawn to anything with anything that boost radiance skin. The reviews recommend using this as a face powder similar to Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (which I adored) to give a little je ne sais quoi to the complexion.
Review - I honestly have no idea how I feel about this powder yet as the powder has this strange moussey feel to it as if the powder is not quite dry. I don't really notice a difference in my skin when I use this powder but then again, I thought the same thing about the Hourglass Powder until the day I stopped wearing it.
Oil-Free Micro-Mineral Serum Foundation in 300 Beige ~~£32~~ | £4.64 Members Price | £7.53 including all fees A lot of people raved about their Great Skin Foundation but I'm a sheer coverage girl so I've decided to try this foundation instead.
Review - Honestly, I don't like this foundation. It clings to my dry patches, settles in my smile lines and it also adds a dried up look to my skin... Not a fan. Also, the shade isn't quite right for me either. It's a big no from me.
One Powder Wonder in Uberlucent Universal ~~£26~~ | £3.76 Members Price | £6.65 including all fees Whilst reading reviews about Beauty Pie, I kept seeing people raving about this powder wonder and how it makes skin looks amazing. Obviously, I have to give it a whirl too.
Review - Okay, here's another one of the weird texture powder. This one literally feels like fake plastic makeup at the makeup counter. I was swirling my brush in it for ages just to see if my brush will pick and product up. It does and it applies to the skin beautifully. It gives a matte but not too matte look. It's a strange one.
Quick Colour Contour Supergel in 02 ~~£22~~ | £3.91 Members Price | £6.80 including all fees Having spotted the new Charlotte Tilbury Contour Gel in the pipeline with similar packaging, I had a mini panic and I felt like I had to have it...
Review - I can confirm that this product contains very similar ingredients to the Charlotte Tilbury's version. Although, I think the shades might be slightly different. I actually love this contour gel so much. It's easy to apply and blend. I think I need to stock up.
Superbrow Pencil Precision in Hot Coffee ~~£17~~ | £2.06 Members Price | £4.95 including all fees I need a good brow pencil in my bag... I always tend to do my makeup in the tube on my way to work each morning. So, I prefer to use a brow product that is easy to do on the go.
Review - For me, this is an okay brow pencil but the shade is not quite right for me. I need a deeper and darker brown. Sadly Beauty Pie only has 3 shades...
My Thoughts I generally enjoy trying out new products from Beauty Pie and discovering dupes from high-end brands. My one issue is that when I look at all the prices combined. It's not actually that cheap. Everything is about the same as the drugstore. I also not a big fan of the monthly limit as it limits me on which products I can get, especially if the products I want have a high RRP. I will continue my subscription for the next couple of months and buy more products but I'm not sure if I will continue my membership after that since I get a lot of beauty products from work anyway.
On my next shopping list: Pro-Glow Face Sculpting Palette and Quick Colour Contour Supergel Duo.

Easy Way to Deep Cleanse Your Pores

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen this little gadget on my InstaStories. I received quite a few questions about YOSO COMPACT Deep Cleansing System after I posted. Some were curious about how it works and some were just wondering why was my face so "dirty". Before you proceed, I would like to mention that my skin is dry and sensitive. This product works very well for me but everyone has different skin type and what works for me, might not work for you.

What is it?
YOSO COMPACT Deep Cleansing System uses ionic technology. Basically, the positive and negative charged ions help to pull away impurities such as leftover cleanser residues and built up daily dirt from deep within your pores.

It is battery operated with 2 x AAA.

How I use it?
Although, it can be used with both cleanser and toner. I personally prefer to use it with toner after double cleansing. I only have balm and cream based cleansers which I don't think will work with this gadget. If you would like to use it with a cleanser, I would recommend water or gel-based cleansers such as Micellar Water.

I normally lightly soaked my cotton pad in toner before sandwiching it between the clip. My toner of choice is Liz Earle Skin Tonic because it's the only one I have in my stash. I'm happy to report that they work very well together. My skin is left feeling clean, radiant and most importantly my skin doesn't feel tight or dry!

YOSO Compact Deep Cleansing System has 4 different levels for each skin type. I normally just use level 4 as I don't really notice the difference between each level. It also doesn't tell you which level is for which skin type, so it's guesswork that level 4 is the strongest. The process last 3 minutes and I usually just run the cotton pad all across my face and neck.

The Result
I have been using YOSO COMPACT Deep Cleansing System religiously for a few months now and I love it! There is a sense of morbid satisfaction at seeing a very dirty cotton pad afterwards. When I don't use this gadget for a few days, my skin doesn't look as bright and the cotton pad will be dirtier as well. When I continuously use the gadget every day, there's not as much built up dirt in my pores, my skin feels cleaner and more radiant.

3 Reasons Why You Need to Visit Italy

Italy has been at the top of my travel wish list for as long as I can remember. Just last month, my boyfriend and I decided to make a little journey through Rome, Amalfi, Positano and Capri in 7 days. So far, it had been the most memorable trip for us as a couple and there are just so many reasons why you need to pack your bag and go to Italy right now!

Here are the top 3 reasons why you need to visit Italy and why I would go back!
1. Ultimate Place for Foodies
If you are a fellow foodie, you are going to love trying out of the Italian dishes. If you are visiting Rome, I would recommend trying Pane e Salami near the Trevi Foundation for the best sandwiches and the most delicious meat board. Alternatively, Tripadvisor is going to be your best friend when you are travelling as we always check it religiously to find the best places to eat. After my own investigation to find the best gelato experience in Rome. I have discovered a few signs that you should avoid.

Avoid all the shops that stack up their gelato high up to attract all the tourists, instead, look for the understated shops that keep their gelato in metal bins.
Avoid gelato with artificial colours, instead, look for one with real ingredients and natural colouring.

If you are near the Vatican City, I would highly recommend Hedera. I'm still dreaming about their creamy gelato. After returning home and talking to a few Italians, many of them have told us that the food in Rome isn't the best of what Italy has to offer but I was definitely blown away for my first visit.
2. Arts and Architecture Enthusiasts
One of my favourite part about going on a city holiday is seeing all the different style of architectures. If you have ever seen any movies based in Rome (e.g. When In Rome with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Lizzie McGuire The Movie etc), I'm sure you will have some ideas of what to expect. Most of the time, my high expectation from these place in movies often left me disappointed in real life. However, I was still pleasantly surprised by the Colosseum, Trevi Foundation and the Vatican City. These are the places that you will need to see at least once!
If you are a big fan of the Arts and museums, you are going to love Rome and if you happened to be visiting Italy at the end of the month. Entries are usually free on the last Sunday of every month but try getting there early because the queue is going to be massive! We managed to visit the Vatican City for free this way.

3. Romantic Rendezvous
Italy is an amazing location that everyone should consider for a couple getaway. Every couple will find an activity for them, no matter if you are a foodie or an outdoorsy type. My boyfriend and I went to the Amalfi Coast and started a trek along the Path of the Gods which ended in Positano. I can tell you now that I'm definitely not an outdoor kind of girl but this trek was amazing! The view from the trek was breathtakingly beautiful and it gave us time to connect in a different setting. The trek along the Path of the Gods has been the most memorable memory for a couple so far. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

A Graduate Guide for the Best Graduation

How crazy is it that it has been nearly a year since my graduation from university? If you have just graduated, the first 6 months after graduation is the probably hardest if you have no plans but things do get better after that!
To be very honest with everyone, about a year before my graduation I had an image of what I wanted to look like on my graduation day and I spent quite a bit of time looking for the perfect dress and shoes to go with it (in hindsight, I should have spent more time revising haha). This might seem like a shallow moment for some people. For me, it was a very important occasion for my personal development and my mum to celebrate my hard work.

Makeup and styling One thing I truly regret about my graduation day is not getting up early enough to get ready properly. Since my graduation was at 9 in the morning, I naively thought that an hour would be enough to shower, do my hair and face but I was so wrong. I forgot to leave time to do my mum's hair and makeup and picking up the graduation gown as well. To all your upcoming graduates out there...leave at less 2 hours to get ready so you are not rushing around (unless you are a guy that needs like 10 minutes to get ready).
On special occasions, always stick for a safe look. DO NOT on any level experiment with a bold 'on-trend' look for that day. A lesson I learnt the hard way...as I look back onto my high school pictures... Honestly, wtf was I thinking and omg why did I think that backcombing my hair was a good idea. My friends even told me my hair looked stupid...but I insisted.
Anyway, back to the story... for makeup, I went for a very simple and understated look, just concentrated on the achieving a flawless base, light eye makeup, lashes and a slight pop of colour on my lips. For my hair, I just curled it and pinned one side back with hairpins.

Finding your perfect dress For me, I imagined myself wearing a white pencil skirt dress or something that has a bit of a figure-hugging shape and reaches my knees, to keep it a bit classy. I saw a couple of dresses from ASOS that I liked but with my student budget, I couldn't afford to buy them both online (ah...being a poor student, what a life). As a way to save money. I usually look for dresses on eBay. Some shops on there will sell new ASOS dresses at a discounted price.

Getting your perfect shoes

I wanted a pair of shoes that I can walk in... I mean no one wants to trip over when they are walking across the stage (a la Lizzie McGuire). Nude colour shoes for me is always a good idea because they will make elongate the legs. The shoes I went for was also bought on ASOS but it's from Steve Madden line because I have several pairs of Steve Madden and I find them to be very comfortable.
Not forgetting the essentials Bring a lot of safety pins because that graduation gown is not going to stay on you by itself. I spent the majority of my day adjusting my gown and pulling it up because it kept sliding off... However, most importantly remember to cherish every moment and enjoy yourself. P.S. How cute was my flower bouquet that my mum made me?

Luxury Products That Are Not Worth The Hype

I hope that I am not the only beauty junkie that have bought so many products that have been recommended by so many people about how amazing they are and only to discover that they are just a 'meh' product, like, they are good but nothing to write home about, ya know?!
tarte Amazonian Clay Full Cover Airbrush Powder Foundation & Brush | £34 I lusted after this foundation so hard when EssieButton raved and raved about it nonstop. I was like "omg, I need this because Essie said she loves it and she has dry skin like me". Lo and behold, I went out of my way to find them and the brush that was sold separately in Sephora Singapore and paid hella a lot of money for them (we couldn't get them in the UK back then), only to find out that it's a bit shit... I mean I still use it sometimes because I don't like to waste but dear lord, it doesn't do anything she claimed. It doesn't look particularly natural, it clings to my dry patches and it doesn't cover anything. Essie, I'm still bitter about this purchase...
Illamasqua Illuminating Hydra Veil | £34 Again, I wanted to love this so much because my favourite YouTuber 'Pearypie' recommended it but for me, I don't really see much of a difference whether I wear primer on my face or not. The primer itself is really cool because it has a gel consistency and comes in a cool tub with a little spoon. However, it doesn't wow me and I don't really feel like it's a product I can't live without but I don't hate it. I just feel meh about it, ya know?
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat | £25.50 I know this is a cult favourite for many people but I don't know...maybe I just don't get it. It's definitely not a concealer despite many people believing it is but it is a pretty decent highlighter. It's nice and the packaging is gorgeous but so not worth the price tag.
Lancome Le Crayon Khol | £18.50 These pencils just come with all my Lancome Mascara gift set that I just buy every Christmas and I have tried using them so many times but it just doesn't work for me. I find that my eyes are way too watery/oily for them. They never last on me and they smudge like there's no tomorrow. It usually moves from my eyes to my cheekbones in about 2 hours. If anyone wants my spare ones, let me know.
OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener - Original Formula | £19.50 I had very high hope for this nail treatment because a few years ago, literally everyone was raving about it but I just couldn't bear to part with £19.50 for a small bottle of nail stuff. Anyway, I have been suffering from nail splitting on my right index finger (you know when the top layer of the nail of decided that it has had enough?). As a disclaimer, I did not pay for this product because I work for a beauty retailer and sometimes I get to test out products because I send a lot of products out to bloggers and I like to make sure that they are good. However, this thing doesn't work for me. I have tried it for several weeks...if anything my other nails are starting to split too. Sooooo not worth it.

Finding My Dream Job In London

Without a doubt London is a crazy place, I originally never planned on moving here but life throws me a few breadcrumbs and I followed. How it started In November 2015, I packed my bag and moved to London. I was looking for a job in London since I graduated in June but with no luck (I barely had 4 interviews in the 5 months I was looking). I guess they saw where I was living and was like "nahhhh thanks". Also, my boyfriend and I were doing this long distance relationship after graduation thing which was tough. So when my boyfriend and his family offered to take me in whilst I look for a job and my own place...I took it. As I thought that I would be there a couple of weeks, top! (Spoiler alert: it's wasn't).
The beginning of something unique Before moving to London I contacted a beauty retailer via LinkedIn after an interview with a social media recruitment company. They gave me the details of the person to contact after I described my dream job to them. At first, I was very sceptical about whether or not this method will work and I did put off contacting the retailer for about a week before thinking "this will literally be my dream job and I have nothing to lose".
So I sent an InMail on LinkedIn asking for a job...any job. Surprisingly I received a reply asking to send my CV. Later on, I received a call from their HR department asking if I would be willing to work in the International Marketing team which I said yes. I always had it at the back of my mind that I wanted to do something international, especially from my degree choice but I hadn't applied to any marketing job because they all required a degree in marketing which I don't have. So, I guess I really did apply at the right time.
A couple of weeks passed and I still haven't heard back from them and I was starting to lose hope but just when I was about to pick up my phone to call them. They called me back to arrange an interview. I received a job offer within 2 weeks of moving to London. Now I'm in my fourth month with there. Honestly, I love the company, the people and I love the work I am doing there. I couldn't quite believe how lucky I got with my first job. This might seems super cheesy but it really made me feel like all those rejection emails and calls were just so I can get this job.
Life is never a smooth sailing However, I wasn't getting lucky everywhere. My biggest challenge since moving to London was that I found it extremely difficult to find accommodation. Even though, I used sites like SpareRoom and EasyRoomate (beware, a lot of scams on this site). When it comes to getting the edge with SpareRoom, you really need to pay for Premium Membership because all the good rooms will go in like 2 days and if they don't, it's probably because the current roommate is batshit crazy!
I can't tell you how many ridiculous things I experienced whilst looking for a place... I saw a place where the landlord and his wife and children are living in the living room (the ad specifically said live out landlord). A room size of a cupboard for £900 in zone 2. Then the other one was where the landlord would only allow me to have guests for 2 nights...per month, maybe 3 nights if it's my mum. Actually, I was so desperate to move out that I was considering these places but luckily my boyfriend convinced me not to because I have no idea where my brain was at that point. I honestly have never experienced anything so stressful. I feel like I could write a book on my awful experience trying to find a room in London.
At the end of the day... Before I moved to London and found my flat, I tried to convince my friend from Sixth Form to move to London with me and share a flat but she was too busy being all careful and adult like (aka responsible and thinking ahead). Unlike me, where I just drop everything and go. I don't know if I would recommend people to do what I did but for me, I think I got very lucky. In the sense that I have people around me to support me and I don't think that I could have done it without them and their help. So if you are reading this...I want to say thank you for helping me get to where I am today. Sometimes I might be like "shit my rent is so high, my housemate is so untidy, I have no money to buy expensive makeup" but then I have to step back and think that actually, my work is great, I have enough money to buy food and pay for rent, and my flat is actually pretty nice and cheap for London's standard. So I better stop complaining and realised that I've got it quite good.

Barely There Make Up Look

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation in 53 | £10.99 I find that the key to 'barely there' makeup look lays with flawless looking skin! I have tried many foundations in my day but with my dry skin problem and difficulty finding the right shade for me. I always come back to Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum. It is my holy grail foundation. I use it when I want naturally dewy skin. It is a shame that it doesn't have SPF, otherwise it would have been the perfect everyday foundation.
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard | £22 When it comes to concealer, it is just as important as a foundation. I need them to hide my panda eyes from sleeping late every night. Oh, the struggle of being a nocturnal person.
Marc Jacobs O!Mega Bronze Perfect Tan in Tantric | $49 You know...I am not 100% sure that I can distinguish the difference between bronzer and contour (I know, bad blogger!). To me, they are very similar. I use this bronzer to add a little bit of warmth and definition to my cheekbones and nose.

Well, I have! It was like nearly impossible for me to find an eyeliner that will stay on my eyelids instead of below it. Lo and behold, comes K-Palette eyeliner. It did not smudge, even in humid weather and my watery eyes. Success!

Rimmel Brow This Way Styling Gel in Dark Brown | £3.99 Whatever brows shapes I have decided to go for. It is just necessary that I set them. I have never had that much problem with unruly brows (mainly because I slightly over plucked them when I was younger). Now I just wait for them to grow and hope that I can do something with them *sigh*.
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara in Waterproof | £7.99 Sometimes, you realised what is important when you don't have it anymore. It is like that with my mascaras. I like to change them up every few months but honestly, it is so hard to find mascaras that won't transfer to my face (the curse of having Asian eyes). I sometimes like using Maybelline The Falsies to set my other mascaras, so it becomes waterproof.
Tony Moly Face Mix Primer Lip Concealer | $3.12 Have you ever wanted cutesy little pale lips colours that are true to the bullet? Well, I did but the pigmentation of my lips went just too dark. So I thought I would try out this Tony Moly's Lips Concealer and OMG can I just say the best buy?! I can wear any lips colours I want now.
MAC Lipstick in Shanghai Spice | £15.50 The perfect nude! You have no idea how much I love this lipstick (unless you were following on Instagram a few months ago, I just couldn't shut up about it). I don't even understand why it doesn't have any hype.
BeautyBlender | £17.00 Quite frankly, I joined the bandwagon and ain't I glad I did? It just creates the most perfect flawless makeup! You can use it to blend anything! Shame about the price though.
